Christina Vinson Same sex marriages
May 27, 2012
It is evident that this is a great contravesy. Same sex marriages has become a bandwagon appeal. If you know of someone in your family or have a friend thats gay or lesbian you tend to agree with these convesations. Presidnt Obama, has made a statement, that the world is shocked about. The president has comtted himself to reach out and to protect those who has come out of the closet; however, it is amazing that this favor towards same sex marriages has come an item during our election year. When we think about marriage, we think about a man and a woman and as the president said, it goes along with religios beliefs. It is not my job to tell anyone how to live their lives but to love them where they are. We should also appreciate the job that our sevice people provide and embrace them for who they are.

I agree with the part about loving people for who they are 100%. And while I do find it suspicious that President Obama suddenly makes mention off this with elections so close, I genuinely hope he's being honest about his true feelings and that he and his people will really strive to help the entire LGBTQ Nation. It would certainly be about time in my opinion. I mean, look at it: every straight couple under the sun can get married, whether they're old, young, black, white, or whatever else. Single people can adopt, married couples can adopt, but people continue to fight LGBTQ couples being allowed to adopt. I don't understand it. It's a Civil Rights disput exactly like what Martin Luther King, Jr. lead for African Americans and like so many women lead for the female population. So why is there so much dissent? The answer I think is ignorance and hate-mongering. But that's just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with the part about loving people for who they are. I honestly donot believe that President Obama would not use his beliefs as a campaign platform. I think that he is truly being honest about his feelings supporting the Gay and Lesbian community. It is more than time for the Gay and Lesbian community to be treated as equals. Although I do not typically believe in Gay and Lesbian marriages, they should not be discriminated agaianst by anyone regardless of how society feels about it. I do believe that Gay and Lesbian couples have just as much of a right as anyone else to adopt children. Thi is simpliy just another way for people to iscriminate against one another. I also agree that so many people are ignorant of what goes on with people that are unlike themselves.
