            President Obama "Same Sex Marriage"

This has been a long drawn out controversy issue same sex marriage should it be legal? Now that the Presidential Election is coming up quickly, I feel that this was a way for President Obama to get the Gay/Lesbian people to be a supporter for his possible reelection for President. Although, his speech was compelling, I personally did not feel that he is certain about this idea. However, all people should be treated as equal no matter what.  Since the Armed Forces are under "Don't ask, Don't Tell", then why should it matter about same sex marriage. When Obama gave this speech is chose his words very carefully, so that it would not offend anyone. If Obama really means that he is for same sex marriage, he needs to be more convincing in the speech he gave. Because of his "coming out" about his feeling on this topic, might seem like a desperate plea for voters. This again is only my opinion about President Obama's speech supporting same sex marriage. My feeling is whatever someone wants to do to make themselves happy and that choice should be theirs. We do live in a free country???

  1. KATHY, I tend to agree with you when it comes to Election time because everyone comes alive during this critical period, however may presdence have used creative ways to bring their message across. Know one can truly say if this is what he truly beleves in but him. He is trying to give acceptance to those who chooseto live this life style. This is surpose to be a country that believes in justice for all and freedom of speech. Some people only usethis to benifit their own personal gain.

  2. Obama is being a politician. He says he personally feels that gay marriage should be legal, so do something about it. Just like how he pushed Obamacare through the legislature he could do the same for gay marriage. He decided to voice his new revelation on gay marriage months before reelection to cover more votes in case his competition does the same. I wasn't persuaded by his speech at all I saw right through this weak attempt to earn more votes. It irritates me. He hasn't felt this way all his life, and if he really did have a revelation he would have a passion for the subject not a caviler attitude about a subject that so important to many Americans. Don't stand on the fence to appease to voters. Stand for what you believe in, make a change for the better, and leave your mark on this world.

  3. I happen to think that Obama is not just being a politician, he's being a concerned american. I think that he just happens to be using it as a platform to help further his career. Just because he does not have a get up and go attitude doesn't mean he isn't passionate about what he has been saying. I also agree that no one knows whether or not he believes in what he is saying but him. I also agree with Kathy when she says that whatever a person wants to do in order to make his/herself happy as long as their not committing any crimes or physically hurting anyone we should let them live their lives the way that they see fit. Everyone has their own opinions but on shouldn't bash the president because you do not believe in what they are saying. Everyone doesn't have to believe in others opinions but you should respect peoples opinions for what their worth.
