Discussion post: "Good Music"

The definition of good music is when a song resonates with you. It instills something you or brings something out of you, it resonates with your very being as if it was a part of you. Good music makes you feel a wide array of emotions and no matter how many times you listen to it it will always sound amazing to you.
Everything about it sounds amazing to you. The lyrics, the beat or chords, the rhythm, and the meaning behind the song.
Now, everyone has different tastes in music so what one person thinks is a form of good music will vary from person to person.
Using a personal definition, “Bartholomew” by The Silent Comedy, falls into the good music category.
The overall rhythm of the song is incredibly infectious and difficult to keep out of your head once you hear it, the simplicity of the rhythm also makes it get stuck in your head much easier than if it was a complicated cord progression. The repetitiveness of the rhythm is also done well so that it keeps it simple without it becoming boring or annoying to listen to. The lyrics have a strong meaning behind them, it’s about a man who has lived a life of sin and wants to desperately get into heaven but God tells him he has to atone for the evils he has done before he will be admitted into heaven for eternity. The whole song resonates well with people because people want to believe that in the end they have done something good with their life, even if they have to make up for their past transgressions along the way.

Good music is good for the mind, body, and soul. It is comforting and it simply sounds amazing. I agree that music can brn out all different emotons because today you can listen to a song then tomorrow you cn listen t the same song and get a different meaning. I lovethe acustic music because it transforms my mine into a diferent place. Christian music fills my whole beam because the tranquality of this music hits the spot. I am not afan of rap music becase the hustle and the hype of rap music gives me a headache.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge music fan. I had a band over 10 years ago and wrote all of our music. Music is a great way to communicate. I think mood has a lot to do with music too. When I was starting to get a little older and some of my fried quit partying and settled down with their girlfriend and wives I started listened to a song by Hank Williams Jr. called "All my rowdy friends have settled down". I never listened or cared for that song before, but once I noticed everything happening around me, I connected with the song and the message.
ReplyDeleteMusic always has the potential to get the best of us. Humans are amazing musicians and can create rhythms that travel with us through life. I’m glad we are all appreciative of music making. Every time good music is played, it creates an atmosphere full of happy vibrations. There are certain genres of music that appeal to certain music. Good music is always original and creative. It gives humans a way of expression, and music can be played all over the world. Music is meant to be enjoyed and I’m glad everyone can relate to each other through a good song.
