Critical analysis

In the article "Violent Media Is good for Kids" Gerard Jones is expressing his opinion on violent media and its benefits for children. Gerard used his own life experiences to base his opinion on violence in comics. These comics helped him come out of his shell and learn to deal with his rage. He felt so strongly about how violence helps children that he created a program to help parents use violence to mange their children's' rage. I have always felt that unregulated media has contributed to the moral decay of society. After reading this article, I was somewhat persuaded on using the violence in media as a tool to help our children. The problem with this is we, as a nation, have parents that are not willing to make the time to teach their children important life lessons, so the concept seems beneficial but not for everyone. Gerard briefly elaborated on the negative effects of violence in the media and how violence in media can put acts of violence in children's' heads and eventually lead to action. Gerard using his own experience found his passion in life, and he worked with some children when creating his program utilizing violence. Since Gerard believes in his passion, of course, his opinion is bias. I think that using violence to teach children to overcome their fears and controlling their rage is an interesting concept.
