Introduction

Hello, my name is John Coffill. I am a Florida native; however, I have been in Gainesville since 2001. That same year I married my true love, my daughter was born, obtained a new job, bought a home, moved to Gainesville, and purchased a new car. I have been working to support my family ever since. I have been a front line manager for the past eight years, and I am ready to move into middle management. I had always thought that my opportunity to go to college was over, but after my friend started college I realized that I could go back to school.
I started Santa Fe College(SFC) in the fall of last year. Over the past two semesters, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA while earning twelve credits during the fall and fifteen this past spring. Also, I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Honors Society, and I have achieved my goals here at SFC while working full time.
That being said, the time I am not in class, working, or studying I spend with my family. I have been taking online courses and classes on campus, but I prefer to be in class to enjoy the interaction with my peers. While registering, my first priority is availability and that's why I am taking this course online. I look forward to the opportunity in this class to strengthen my writing skills.
I have been in the work force for 15 years and through my blood, sweat, and tears I have a true appreciation of the education that I have obtained here in college. I savor every moment I am on campus and cherish the knowledge I have gained. Through my studies in the Liberal Arts I have learned the importance of leadership and civic engagement. Once an egocentric thinker, I have developed into an ethnocentric thinker with a sense of world centric views. I truly feel to change this world for the better we as a community have teach our children a strong foundation so they will effectively handle obstacles in their path.

  1. Wow! It sounds like you had an amazing year on 2001. It is also nice how you've kept a high GPA while working full time and having a family. Your story is a great example for me since this is my first semester taking 4 online classes while having a full time job.

    Keep up the good work!

  3. Hello John! Wow!The many strides you've achieved since 2001 is very inspiring. You have a lot on your plate, but seem to have mastered a balance with three important elements of your life.
One day you will look back at those long hours and pat yourself on the back for a job well done. I am sure your family is proud and appreciative for all your dedication. It sounds like you have it all figured out and know exactly what career path you are inclined to follow. I too am enrolled in this class trying to improve my writing skills and learn all I missed out on in my youth. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors this semester!
