"Violent Media Is Good For Kids"

In the article "Violent Media Is Good For Kids",Gerard Jones makes a strong argument concerning violence and children.
Society has taught us that violence is not accepted, but how can children and adults live a full and productive life if there is no balance.  As Mr. Jones shared his story of suffocating his fears it compels me to think that if we depress our true feeling we will never live to our full potential
As a parent I can say I have been guilty of wanting my son to be happy when he really wasn't. He only seemed to be happy when he was around his peers so now he doesn't want to be with his parents for extended periods.
I never looked at the Hulk like  have seen him through the eyes of Mr. Jones.  The Hulks character showed us that he could do good acts but that other person could come out when he was mad.  This is how some of us live our lives and we need to know it is okay to live free.
I think that super hero's and video games are somewhat different.  The violence in some video games stir up a different kind of anger and aggressions by watching someone act out those tendencies to hurt anyone who stand in their way or bothers them. while super heroes wanted to help others and stop bad guys that hurt good people.
I will agree that for some violence is entertaining; however, when it is intentionally I find this hurts all involved. The person that's being hurt and the person that's hurting others.  For example a person that's being bullied is hurt along with there families and the person that bullies may have been hurt in life and their just acting act their hurt.
Sometimes when we try and protect our children from harm we put them right in the center of the eye of the storm, but when we give them the right tools in life they can making a responsible choice.

  1. After reading this post I happen to agree with the conclusions of this writer. Although society has taught us to be against violence in everyday life. Violence in movies and video games portray something totally different. Many people live their lives on different levels as long as their happy they are kind generous, while when they are angry they do not realize who and what they are capable of doing. Although some violence in the movies and video games can be quite entertaining. I do not believe in any type of violence is appropriate and should be discouraged. Parents should limit the amount of violence that their children come in contact with on a daily basis.
