Formal Introductions
Hi there...
I am a first time college student at the age of 34. I am also a mom of four kids with a full time job, so I figured I would try an on-line class and see how it goes. Hoping to transfer to UF after completing my preliminaries at Santa Fe, I decided to get started this summer instead of waiting any longer. Any tips for on-lines classes are appreciated since I really do not know what I am doing. Liz

Awesome Liz! The fact that you are posting on this forum proves that you do know what you are doing. Give yourself some credit. I also commend you on starting your college career. I am 35 and just starting college, so I know how you feel. For me, the advantage to an online class is availability. I prefer to be on campus, but since SFC offers online courses I am able to obtain my AA in Business Administration in two years. I would suggest doing some research on the eSanta Fe page and utilizing the career resources that are available. Set your goal and SFC can help you formulate your plan. You can even utilize these resources online or on campus. Spend some time using Angel. From there you can get the syllabus, turn in your assignments, communicate with your class, and much more. Achieving your goals are obtainable once you have an effective plan and work your plan everyday.
ReplyDeleteHi there Liz! I must agree with John. Congratulations. I too am beginning a college career at 42. It's never too late! It's a bit scary at first, but eventually you will adjust with great results. The biggest advice or tip I can give is to always ask questions when you don't understand. You can also, contact your Teacher thru email or call to schedule a face to face appointment. If you need extra help, their is a writing lab in building G in the Northwest campus. Their is always someone there that can assist you. Taking an online class in a short time period is going to be hectic and rush along like lightning..Don't be shy in using your resources by going on campus if needed.Hang in there and best of luck!
