Casual Media.

"Contemporary media is encouraging children to grow up too fast."  Create a causal chain that either supports or refutes this statement.

The contemporary media of today is not encouraging all children to grow up fast, it is targeted towards girls. Fashion has "opened" up in all kind of ways for woman if the past few decades everything is becoming more towards sex appeal. Everything has become shorter and tighter, even for guys. Younger girls see this on every piece of media they can get their hands on from television to magazines. The main problem with contemporary media and girls is that girls have a bigger need to conform then boys. Media hits this well even shows on The Disney channel have more sex appeal, and every girl wants to be like their "idols".

  1. I agree with John about the text being hard to read. I do agree with something you wrote about the media and girls. I think boys are equally affected by the media because we have male baseball, football, and music icons that boys want to be like. There are so many negative things that the media put out and our children run with it. It does not matter if it's negative or positive, the message is well recived.

  2. I have 3 girls and I agree with your statement that girls and contemporary media have more issues then compared to boys when it comes to sex appeal and looking older then they are. Boys have it harder in relationship to sports just like Christina stated in her comment. With boys, the media is more likely to push them into drugs like steroids to bulk up and look like their favorite athlete. With girls, they are more likely to have eating disorders and self-image issues. We should be using the media to show it is ok to be different, not everybody have to be a cookie cutter cutout of the next person. The media show lead by example and change things around instead of letting the prefect models and athletes do the leading.
