DP #2 week 5
Contemporary media is encouraging children to grow up to fast. This is a statement that might cause some emotion because this is what people are raising their children on. Not only is today’s media filled with inappropriate content. Today’s world is also lacking guidance and positive interacting that children need. Values have been lost and now we are facing seven year olds being sentenced to prison. Not only are our children dealing with dysfunctional families but they are also surrounded by dysfunction in the world. Children are learning more about hate than they are about loving one another. Contemporary media is also focuses on video games, smart devices such as I pads. They are learning how to surf the internet that is filled with crude comedy, pornography, violent media, and so much more information that should be kept away from a child’s mind. Instead children should be creating their own world, they should be outside exploring the beauty of nature. Children should be highly active because they are filled with energy. Today’s world does not emphasize enough the importance of making a childhood last. As a child you have a perspective that is unfamiliar to all things. All encounters should be something that makes a difference. Children need to be encouraged, inspired and taught, not just entertained.

Good post Brittany. I have one that will blow your minds. My wife was at a school event for our son and her camera was stolen. When the dust settled it turns out it was another parent, and they shoved the camera in their sons backpack. How can we expect that kid to grow up normal when his parents are stealing things using their sons book bag?
ReplyDeleteThis was an excellent post and I agree wholeheartedly. In today's society families are so dysfunctional. Children have to deal with their families being unstable. Inside family dynamics children are taught more about hate and disrespect than they ever earn about love and kindness. Along with the family dynamics, the video games and devices they learn how to do more than the average children of the past ever has. Children are learning more about activities that are deemed for adults. I think that parents as well as today's society should emphasize the importance of remaining a child as long as possible. Parents should create a happy upbringing for their children that does not leave them exposed to contemporary media.
