Pride and Prejudice

I though Mr. Darcy did a fine job of proposing, I can't figure out why she said no. Just kidding. I guess the first thing I noticed that he mentioned that his family and friends and even his better judgement were telling him not to love or marry her. He pretty much tore her down with his arrogance and belittled her.

What he should have done, was leave his family and friends out of the proposal. He could have told her how great she made him feel, and he was only happy when he was in her presence. If she objected to that and brought up his family and friends he could have told her that nothing else matters to him but her. It appears that she detested him from the day they met. So he could have adjusted his behavior and courted her properly and then try to seal the deal at a later time.

  1. Jay, I felt aa if he could have expresed his love in a diffent manor than he did. As in my coy mistress, I felt the words coming from off the paper True love is felt all over its not an act or a play.

  2. When I first started reading what you wrote, I was about to open up the comment page and ask why you thought that he did a fine job. Of course, I kept reading just to find that you were kidding. With his agressive tone and his demand to marry him, I don't think any girl would be stupid enough to agree o say yes. He thought of himself and ony himself. He does not deserve a fine woman like the one he "attempted" to propose to. I don't see how anyone whether guy or girl would even bare to listen to someone with such and ego. Just being around him would piss me off, let alone hearing him speak to a woman the way he did and call it a proposal.
